Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Still regarded as the world hockey superpower as it has been for much of the game's existence, at the start of the 2023-24 season, 41.7 percent of all active players on National Hockey League rosters hailed from the Great White North. Offered here, we present this collection of Team Canada hockey memorabilia. Paced by a 14.5" x 27.5" display poster produced by O'Keefe for the 1974 Summit Series, the point of sale promotional item features a vintage style image in the centre of the board and headshots of all those that wore the red and white during the series, including players such as Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull and 72' series hero, Paul Henderson, around the edge. Remaining in good condition, light age and handling wear is seen at the edges and corners. Also including a 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" postcard that was designed to send to a player of your choosing while in Russia to wish him the best of luck, this example was never used and remains in excellent condition overall. Also accompanied by a pair of 1974 Series pocket schedules that were also produced by O'Keefe and are in good condition with light handling wear evident, programs from the 1974 Series as well as the '76, '81, '87 and '91 Canada Cup tournaments are included and once again are in overall nice condition with typical handling wear observed which is heaviest on the 1981 Canada Cup example as the cover has more creases and a couple of small tears that its counterparts don't show. Rounding out the lot, present are opened boxes of 1991 Future Trends "Team Canada '72" and 1992 "Canada Cup '76" that are both fully opened while another box, this one sealed still, of the 1991 "Team Canada '72" cards is also included and features 24 packs on the interior. Lastly, is a pair of books from the 1976 and 1981 Canada Cup's that both display with handling wear and tears to their dust jackets, and a 2010 wrapper from Excel gum that shows Martin Brodeur over the front. An excellent lot for any Hockey Canada enthusiast.
