Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
An inviting opportunity here for those seeking a near-perfect rookie card of hockey's most phenomenal point-getter. Wayne Gretzky, the highly-touted whiz kid from Brantford, Ontario, who was described on the back of his 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee RC as the best prospect to turn pro since Guy Lafleur, sure lived up to all the advance billing! What a treat it was to have witnessed the most prolific scoring accomplishments of all-time and what a treat it will be for you to secure this recently-graded example of The Great One's first official cardboard appearance. Examined and encapsulated by PSA and deemed worthy of NM-MT 8 status, this card number 18 features good centering and sharp corners, with a less-than-smooth left edge likely denying it a loftier mark. As of this writing, the PSA Population Report reveals that over 4800 Gretz RCs have been submitted to PSA since the company’s inception and that just 102 have scored higher than this desirable prize.
