Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Boxes and binders home to lots of O-Pee-Chee cards from the 1980s are offered up here, with however no real noteworthy high grade material to report – au contraire. A near set of ’80-81 OPCs is only missing the #396 checklist, with VG to EX examples the majority. A second-year Gretzky card is a well-centered EX notable, with however rookie cards of Messier (VG at best) and Bourque (VG) not as nice. From ’81-82 are Savard RC, Murphy RC and Gretzky each with a crease and corner dings, with Moog (EX+) better but off-centered and the rest of the key rookies/stars among the eight cards not present. One might expect the more-produced ’82-83 and ’83-84 cards (both complete) to be superior but that’s only the case with the latter, although intermittent corner issues and flaws deny a NM assessment. Mario Lemieux’s rookie card is the one card not involved from ’85-86, with an Al MacInnis RC a little shy of EX and some EX-or-better examples joined by lesser lights. The winning bidder will also have over 900 other cards to check out, with 100+ really beat up, warped, stained ’68-69 OPCs (Parent, Redmond RCs) leading chronologically. There are also lots of extra representaives from ’80-81 (a starter set of 300+ but without key rookie/star cards and 450+ additional commoners (duplication “city”)), as well as a group of lower grade ’85-86s (100+). Gretzky and friends/foes await your bid!
