Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
From the 2006 racing season - one that witnessed Jacques Villeneuve score seven points during the first twelve rounds of the season - we have a group of items from Villeneuve’s personal collection. Included, we have two pairs of signed race gloves showing no use, each with screened-on Puma labels and “Petronas” embroidered, with each glove signed in black marker. Next, there’s signed Puma race-worn boots (Euro size 40.5 = US 8) with a “JV 2 2006” handwritten notation within the right boot, with a label within each, with one dated “Dec 31st 2005”. This is followed by two signed Puma button-up shirts in size “L”, with one in white featuring BMW and Petronas logos with “BMW Sauber F1 Team” over the reverse, with matching logos on the darker shirt along with crests from Intel and Michelin. Lastly, there is also Nomex socks, underwear and balaclava from Jacques’ F1 career. A signed LOA from Villeneuve will accompany.
As mentioned, the gloves were never race-worn, with the signatures on the dark blue pair somewhat hard to make out. The Puma race boots show nice moderate wear, with each signed across the toe section in black marker, with no issues for the signatures. Next, the white button-up is short-sleeved, with a Puma pin affixed to the chest pocket, with Jacques signing directly beneath in black marker. The second shirt is a long-sleeved example, with Villeneuve signing across the chest pocket in silver, with the signature blending into the material somewhat.
