The detailed certificate of authenticity card that accompanies Matt Duchene’s game-worn Team Canada uniform from the 2015 World Championships testifies that the jersey was worn in Preliminary matches against Latvia and Switzerland. This white Nike-made jersey sports the swoosh in the collar with size 60 below and the IIHF tagging. Matt’s number 9 is sewn onto each shoulder above Zepter sponsor patches and smaller heritage-style leafs and we find the number on the back below the “DUCHENE” name bar. Letters spelling “Canada” cascade down the front with a commemorative 100-year patch sewn at the left breast. Game wear is light with numerous small stick and paint marks on the arms and back.
The 2015 IIHF World Championships were held in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic between May 1st and 17th, 2015. Matt Duchene scored four goals, adding another eight assists for a 12-point performance over the 10 games contested by Canada at the tournament. Canada beat Russia to win the gold medal at the 2015 Worlds, its first title since 2007. The Haliburton-born centerman jumped over to the Ottawa Senators early in the 2017-18 season after eight full years with the Avalanche following a two-season stint in the juniors with the Brampton Battalion.
