Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Granted a franchise in 1956 due to the demolition of the Pittsburgh Hornets arena that crippled the club, the Rochester Americans have competed for the AHL’s Calder Cup on 16 occasions, winning the coveted trophy 6 times. We have an Americans jersey that was worn by Dave Hynes during the mid-1970s, circa 1974-76. A Champion label with “46” sizing remains attached to the collar, with the affixed team crest featuring rubberized graphics, with all identifiers including the “7s” over the sleeves and verso screened-on and rubberized. The stars and striping bands over the sleeves and waist are also rubberized, with the sleeves cut and slightly shortened. We should also note that while Hynes wore #7 in both 1974-75 and 1975-76, this style was actually worn by the club for an additional season, in 1976-77.
Dark marks and scrapes are visible on the lower front beneath the slightly bunched team crest, with small holes present over each sleeve. There is also some pilling around the collar, with team repairs over the right sleeve and shoulder.
