Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
One of the most influential dancers in the history of film, Fred Astaire was named by the American Film Institute as the fifth greatest male star of Classic Hollywood cinema in 100 Years... 100 Stars. We have a scrapbook page with an affixed signed cut of the Hollywood legend with his sister Adele also signing. At 10” x 13”, the heavily toned scrapbook page features clippings of the siblings from “Funny Face”, with a 6 ½” x 8” letter mentioning the signatures, with the 3” x 4” cut placed above featuring wonderful fountain pen signatures of the pair headed by “Sincerely”. The Astaire signature could be trimmed to function as a stand-alone example if so desired. An LOA from JSA will accompany. Funny Face is a 1927 musical composed by George Gershwin, with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, and book by Fred Thompson and Paul Gerard Smith. When it opened on Broadway on November 22, 1927, as the very first show on the newly built Alvin Theatre, it starred Fred Astaire and his sister Adele Astaire. It was in this show that Fred Astaire first danced in evening clothes and a top hat.
