Winning three straight James Norris Trophy’s from 1963-65 as the league’s best defenceman, Pierre Pilote would play 890 games in the NHL, with all but 69 matches played with the Chicago Black Hawk, winning a Stanley Cup with the Windy City club in 1961. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975 and having had his number "3" retired by the Blackhawks in 2008, offered here is this pair of multi-signed jerseys that hail directly from Pilote's personal collection.
For the first jersey, a bright red Blackhawks offering made by Pro Player, brand and size "48" labeling is affixed to the inner collar while the Pro Player and NHL shield logos are embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with Chicago's famed Indian head crest that features beautifully done chain-stitched detailing throughout, Chicago's 75th anniversary patch has been added over the right breast while matching chain-stitched tomahawk alternate logo crests have been placed atop of both shoulders as well. Featuring Pilote's number "3" over the sleeves and verso with "Pilote" spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate, the jersey, featuring pro on-ice elements such as a fight strap and reinforced elbows, has been signed over the reverse number "3" by names such as; Tony Esposito, Stan Mikita, Pat Stapleton, Keith Magnuson, Glenn Hall, Dennis Hull and others, all the signatures have been signed in black marker ink that remains bold though some do show some bleeding that is worthy of mention. Furthermore, the jersey is also in good condition with just a couple of spot stains present over the reverse.
For the second jersey, a CCM made All-Star Game offering in the style that was worn between 1947 and 1959, the red, white and blue ensemble sports both CCM/"Made in Canada" and size "52" labeling affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo is embroidered into the reverse hem as well. Decorated over the front with an NHL shield crest and white tackle twill stars, once again the garment sports pro on-ice style elements such as a fight strap and reinforced elbows. Featuring "Pilote" and his number "3" over the reverse and signed over the front by seventeen (17), those that have autographed the piece include; Marcel Dionne, Andy Bathgate, Jacques Laperrière, Yvan Cournoyer, Alex Delvecchio, Bill Gadsby, Henri Richard, Ted Lindsay, Jari Kurri, Harry Howell, Ed Westfall and others, all the autographs have been signed in black marker ink and display well for the most part with some also being bunched together and difficult to make out. Additionally, the jersey also remains in excellent condition with just a couple of light spot stains observed. A Pilote Family LOA will accompany the piece.
