The longest-serving captain in Boston Bruins history, Ray Bourque spent a lengthy 21 seasons in Beantown, with the impressive Calder won during his first season along with five James Norris Trophies throughout his career. We have a twice-signed Bruins captain’s jersey that was worn by the 19-time All-Star in 1997-98. Starter labeling with a “56-R” size swatch sit affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and Starter crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the famous spoked-B team crest fully administered in tackle twill, the white V-neck has been accented with tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. Originally gifted by Bourque to a close friend in Montreal, the sweater was then given to our consignor by the friend. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
Ray has signed twice, between the reverse numbers and just above the team crest in thin marker, and the signatures display fairly well. A few marks are visible over each sleeve, with a bit of red paint transfer over the front hem. There is also some minor fraying to the team crest, with some light pilling to the interior in spots. We should also note that the important garment sports custom-shortened cuffs.
