Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

An intriguing WHA card bonanza is offered here, with a 51-card 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee run, not even listed in our title, a great place to start, the always-in-demand cards mostly in pleasing crease-free EX to NM shape. Hull and six other VGs have a crease, with just one low grade filler. The Howe family’s #1 card (NM) from ’74-75 then commences a rather sharp batch of four OPC all-WHA sets, with the likes of Gordie and Bobby Hull and The Big M leading the star power. We’d say NM is the average, with some intermittent dinged-corners and almost standard WHA less-than-perfect centering to mention. Also, three of the four checklists have noteworthy issues; ’74-75 is creased and VG, ‘76-77 is marked and ’77-78 is VG with wax stains. Completing is a Quaker Oats set of 50 cards on paper stock, with a crease in the Hull and the others looking good in binder pages. Encompassing WHA stash should delight its new owner, with eight autographed ’75-76s to discover.
