Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Always a favourite with collectors, we have a pair of table top hockey games, with a “Hockeymaster” brand game from Munroe featuring a magnetic puck, along with a small bagatelle-style “Stanley Cup Hockey Game” made by The Canada Games Co Limited. The Munroe game hails from the circa-1950s and is accompanied by it’s original box and measures roughly 16” x 35 ½”, with the players all present along with the instructions and a pair of pucks, one magnetic, the other just wood. Advertisements are present on the game surface from both Esso and Coca-Cola, with just a single dial missing for the time clock. The players and game surface both show wear from prior use, with the original box complete and in very good condition. The rare Canada Games example is 6 ½” x 14” and primitive in construction and appearance, with simple wood construction and inserted nails, with a dial listing the “Minutes of Play” affixed to the added center section. While it’s not clear how the game worked, it appears incomplete, with moderate wear to the surface along with a nail that protrudes along the left side. A neat collection, we have never handled an example of the Stanley Cup game before.
