Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Legendary Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Turk Broda signed this vintage QHL Ottawa Senators mini-stick. Broda, who died in 1972, won the Stanley Cup five times during his Hall of Fame career with the Leafs. Broda coached the Senators of the Quebec Hockey League in 1953-54, which is likely the period when this souvenir mini stick was produced and signed by him. Broda signed in pencil on the shaft of this 11” long wood mini-stick, which has three ribbons representing the Senators’ red, white and black colors low on the shaft. “Ottawa Senators” stamped on the blade on the same side as the autograph, while “House of Champions” is stamped on the other side of the blade.
Broda had 302 regular season wins for Toronto between 1936 and 1952 despite missing three seasons because of World War II. Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1967, he was one of 15 goalies among the 100 Greatest NHL Players named by the league in celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2017.
