Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Running from May 14th to 22nd, the 1994 Memorial Cup tournament witnessed the undefeated Kamloops Blazers slip past a talented Laval squad to capture their second CHL championship in franchise history. Hailing from the collection of longtime CHL and WHL president Ed Chynoweth and consigned by his direct family, we have a 1994 Kamloops Blazers Memorial Cup champions 10K gold ring that was presented to the important hockey administrator. Size 8 with a weight of 20 grams, an embossed Memorial Cup sits atop an attractive blue stone on the face, with single zirconias placed along each side with “Kamloops” above, and “Memorial Cup Champions” below. “1994” along with a WHL logo and winning seasons appear on the left shank, with a Blazers logo and “Chynoweth” on the right. The inner band is stamped “Jostens 10K” and “70-24-6”. Comes with an LOA from the family.
Just light wear to both the inner and outer band is present, with small expected scratches along with moderate edge wear. Chynoweth served as the president of the WHL from 1972-95 and president of the CHL from 1975-95. Passing from cancer in 2008, the WHL renamed its championship trophy the Ed Chynoweth Cup in his honour. Chynoweth was posthumously elected to the HOF as a builder late in 2008.
