Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
A rare occurrence at the Spectrum, the Philadelphia Flyers played to a scoreless draw against the Montreal Canadiens on Feb 11th 1993, with the only previous 0-0 scoreline taking place in 1969 against St Louis. We have a Philadelphia Flyers jersey from the personal collection of Eric Lindros that was worn that very evening by the superstar during his rookie season. A Maska Air-Knit label with handwritten “88” remains affixed to the collar near a size “56” fly tag, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests gracing the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the classic winged-P Flyers team crest fully administered in tackle twill, the V-neck home jersey has been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers in matching material, with the Stanley Cup 100th anniversary crest over the right breast. Lindros has signed the reverse side of the team crest in black marker along with the Flyers trainer, with "2-11-93" (February 11th 1993) handwritten below. A signed LOA from Eric Lindros will accompany.
Game-use includes marks over the lower front and custom-shortened sleeves, with a bit of red paint transfer over the right sleeve’s number. On February 11th 1993 the Flyers played the Montreal Canadiens at home in a 0-0 tie. Only once the Flyers played to a scoreless tie on Spectrum ice. It was on October 26th 1969 against St. Louis. On the evening of February 11th 1993 Tommy Soderstrom and Montreal's Andre Racicot changed the history books. Unlike its '69 predecessor, this duel was 65 minutes long. Soderstrom was deservedly the game's star, especially after staving off a Canadiens power play in OT.
