Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Featuring the notorious league that proved to be serious competition for the NHL during the 1970s, we have a desirable 1973-74 Quaker WHA complete set, along with an additional 2 panels for an extra 10 cards (including Hull), plus 8 unopened cello packs, documents pertaining to the release and a cereal box cut-out advertising the set. Issued one panel of 5 cards within specially marked boxes of Quaker cereal, the set is complete at 50, with a number of stars within including Cheevers, Wakely, Tremblay, Hull and others. The included documents total 61, with examples featuring the text used for each player on the card’s reverse, along with other general documents that all pertain to the set.
The complete set of 10 5-card panels all remain in especially pleasing condition, with just a single panel exhibiting a crease/wrinkle. The unopened cellos display nicely, with a few showing tears along with small amounts of loss. The handcut 8” x 8 ½” cereal box advertisement features Bobby Hull, and it remains in wonderful condition with bright colours and only light wear, while the documents all exhibit minor wear and toning commensurate with their former use.
