Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A three-time Stanley Cup champion as a general manager with Carolina and Pittsburgh, goalie Jim Rutherford played most of his NHL career with Detroit. Rutherford’s 1979-80 Red Wings game-worn jersey is a red mesh affair with No. “1” sewn on the back and both sleeves in single-layer tackle twill and evidence of a former nameplate. “Stall & Dean” tagging with “8” written in black marker sits in the back of the collar along with a laundry instruction label, a size 50 fly tag, and a "9" year tag denoting the 1979-80 season. The cream stretch-knit stripe of the front and rear tail has “Olympic Sporting Goods” tagging inside the left hip and a garter-style fight strap remains attached.
Game wear includes black marks on the front and on the left front tail, the front of the lower left sleeve, and on the back of the right shoulder.
