Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Coach Bob Johnson's style was initially greeted with rolled eyes and guffaws, but is now commonplace throughout the sport: an emphasis on conditioning, fundamentals practiced in on- and off-ice drills, and a creative, up-tempo style reliant on one-touch passes and carrying the puck into the offensive zone. Offered is a set of training pants and top, by Rawlings, worn by Bob during on-ice practice sessions. The blue combo has the "USA" running down the front in two-tone tackle twill and both the jacket and pants are in a heavy stretch-Durene material with Rawlings tagging in each. The top has size 44 noted on the tagging while the bottoms are a size 38 with an "M" fly tag and an additional sewn in tag reading the number "30". The pants have a slight flare with zippers running up from the cuffs. Both pieces show wear with no damage.
Also included in this lot is an official Team USA player's equipment bag, probably from the early to mid-Eighties, used and saved by Bob. The full-size red, white and blue bag has a "Donatelli" identifier in faded marker, CCM logos on both sides and a working zipper. Attached is a United States Ice Hockey Association luggage tag with Bob Johnson's info and home address. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
