Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

The first cardboard appearance of legendary Montreal Canadiens' ambidextrous goaltender Bill Durnan highlights this group, part of the Berk Ross company's multi-sport "Hit Parade of Champions" issue from 1951. There are actually a pair of two-card panels featuring Durnan along with Detroit Red Wings' defenceman Bill Quackenbush, with one graded EX-MT 6 by PSA and the other at NM 7 but with a "(MC)" qualifier. Borders surround the panel picturing Black Jack Stewart of the Red Wings and quarterback Doak Walker of Southern Methodist University and it merited NM 7 recognition, while miscut but otherwise in pretty much like-new condition at NM-MT 8 (MC) is the panel featuring the fourth Hockey Hall of Fame member in the set, Sid Abel, matched up with University of Oklahoma tackle Wade Walker. Rather crude cards look good in their big PSA holders!
