Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

Well remembered by Canadians for Sidney Crosby’s gold medal-winning overtime goal, the 2010 Winter Olympics took place in Vancouver, with Canada securing 14 gold medals – the best at the games. We have an especially interesting limited-edition replica torch, along with an official participation medal from the games in its original box. The torch comes in an attractive 16 ½” x 5 ¾” x 2 ½” wooden display case, with a Vancouver games logo over the front, along with the particulars of the actual torch relay on the underside of the lid. The torch itself is an exact miniature of the real deal, with a logo placed across the center, with a base and COA accompanying. With just some light handling wear present, the high-quality torch and case remain in gorgeous condition. The participation Paralympic medal was never offered for sale, only issued to volunteers and VANOC staff, with bilingual text on the interior of the presentation box reading in part that the medal's design was "inspired by Canada's rich natural and cultural diversity”. "With Glowing Hearts - Des plus Brillants Exploits" appears with the Vancouver Olympic logo on one side of the 1-5/8" in diameter keepsake, with both the medal and box surviving in stunning condition.
