Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The Great One’s 1997-98 New York Rangers game-used Hespeler stick has a big “Wayne Gretzky 99” bold black marker autograph across its now-bare blade. Gretz had 90 points and finished fifth in Art Ross Trophy voting in his second season on Broadway. Wayne’s original tape job was removed from the blade to apply his gorgeous signature, but his original black foam gripper remains on the knob. "Gretzky" is stamped on the upper shaft and "115-120" flex marking is stamped below while the "55-7" pattern number is stamped on the lower back of the shaft. Game wear includes black marks low on the wooden shaft of this Gretzky beauty used during Wayne’s second season with the Blueshirts.
