Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
One of the most storied lines in hockey history, Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay were centered by veteran Sid Abel beginning in 1947, with the trio finishing 1-2-3 in scoring in 1950. We have a stick used by the most integral component of the Production Line, with this example used by Gordie Howe hailing from the mid-1950s, and it’s been signed by all three. A Northland Pro, “Howe” appears stamped-on, with a faded handwritten “9” visible on the upper shaft along with stamps from supplier Lippman’s on both sides. The important stick retains its original tape on the blade and handle, with additional tape added along the lower shaft/blade at some point to address a break, with at least one nail visible. All three have signed across one side of the shaft in thick black marker, perfect for display.
The stick exhibits heavy use, with the previously mentioned break along the blade, with wear to the underside and toe section. There are also marks on the lower shaft, with some paint transfer near the handle. The blade has also been covered with additional tape that is now deteriorating.
