Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
The oldest franchise in all of American professional sports, the Philadelphia Phillies began life in 1883, when they replaced the National League team from Worcester, Massachusetts. Heavily collected, we have 5 game-worn Phillies items for your consideration. Included, we have a pair of Philadelphia jerseys, with a road example worn by Richie Hebner in 1977 (signed), along with a home jersey from 1981 donned by Del Unser. Next, we have two pairs of Phillies uniform pants, with a road pair worn by Larry Christenson in 1981 along with a pair worn by Keith Moreland in ’82. Lastly, we have an attractive Phillies jacket that originates from some time before 1981. An LOA will accompany the signed Hebner game-worn jersey.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Richie Hebner’s 1977 Philadelphia Phillies game-worn jersey. A Wilson size label sits on the lower front along with a date and set swatch of “44 77 2”, with “Hebner” chain-stitched along the collar. Styled with a tackle twill Phillies team crest, the zip-up jersey also sports matching front and verso numbers, with “Hebner” across the nameplate. With minimal wear, Hebner has signed along the lower front just above the Wilson tagging, and the signature displays well. 2) Del Unser’s 1981 Philadelphia Phillies game-worn jersey. A Wilson size label sits on the lower front along with a date and set swatch of “81 1”, with “Unser” chain-stitched along the collar. Styled with a tackle twill Phillies team crest, the zip-up jersey also sports matching front and verso numbers, with “Unser” across the nameplate. With just a few very faint stains on verso, the jersey remains in beautiful condition. 3) Keith Moreland’s 1982 Philadelphia Phillies game-worn road pants. A Wilson label remains affixed to the waistband along with a date and set swatch of “Moreland 82 2 24”, with a number of names handwritten including “Gunn” and “Wilson”. The pants show nice use, with a pair of team repairs on the upper right leg, just below the waist. 4) Larry Christenson’s 1981 Philadelphia Phillies game-worn road pants. A Wilson label remains affixed to the waistband along with a date and set swatch of “Christenson 81 2 25”, with a number of names handwritten and crossed out including “Tewell”, “Varga” and “Rusy”? Great use is shown, with thorough wear present including some dirt staining below the knees. 5) Pre-1981 Philadelphia Phillies jacket. A zip-up Wilson affair with tagging along the collar, with a dual-layer tackle twill Phillies “P” over the left breast. Exhibiting light use, the jacket remains in beautiful condition. We should also note that the accompanying LOA for the Hebner jersey also states a game-worn cap, which is not included with this lot.
