Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

Selected as the greatest goaltender in NHL history by a panel of 41 writers in 2004, Patrick Roy remains the only player to win the coveted Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP an astounding 3 times. This Montreal Canadiens jersey was issued to the HOF superstar in his twilight years with the Habs in the mid-1990s. Sold originally as a game-worn example by other auction sites, a Maska Ultrafil label with handwritten diagonal mark along with a size “58” fly tag sit affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the back bottom hem. Featuring the iconic and world famous CH team crest in triple-twill, the solid white V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Roy” across the nameplate in tackle twill. With no salt in the fight strap clasps and no signs of having been washed, marks on the jersey are present, but this wear can't be attributed to Roy playing with the jersey in games.
