Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
The current high bids for the cumulative group of sublots, $1,899.00 is currently higher than the total for the set, $1,000.00 (this lot is currently losing)
Intriguing group of pre-war collectibles here features some of hockey’s all-time greats and is the only group of “cancelled” William Paterson V145s showing up at PSA, thus earning “finest” bragging rights. Cards sent to the company back in the day in exchange for a prize, (a pair of skates), were returned to collectors but with a punch hole and “CANCELLED” stamped on the back, the latter also date-stamped. Card #24 here, picturing Jack Adams, is the condition leader at EX+ 5.5, with 34-Ken Randall slabbed Good 2. The others all have paper loss on the reverse, with Georges Vezina’s card labelled Authentic. At FR 1.5 are 2-Frank Nighbor, 6-George Boucher, 22-Stuart and 38-Roach, while PR 1 examples picture 10-Cy Denneny, 14-Aurele Joliat and 18-Odie Cleghorn. All but two are Pop 1s at PSA with none higher among cancelled versions. Please note that at the end of the auction, the set will be sold to the highest aggregate bidding, whether that is the sum of the individual lots or the highest bid for the complete set. Our website will automatically reflect whichever portion has received the highest bidding total.
