Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

From his first full season in Denver, we are pleased to offer a Colorado Avalanche jersey worn by HOF netminder Patrick Roy in 1996-97. Fresh off a Stanley Cup victory in the spring of 1996, Roy would see action in 62 games in 1996-97, securing an impressive 2.32 GAA while leading Colorado back to the Western Conference Final. Starter and Center Ice labels are affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Starter crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with the familiar Avs team crest in twill partially embroidered, the burgundy v-neck has been accented with textured tri-colour numbers along with matching Bigfoot alternate crests over each shoulder. There is also a size code swatch of “58G-2LS11” sewn to the inside hem. From his historic first season in Colorado, this garment is worthy of an advanced HOF collection. An LOA will accompany.
Visible game-wear includes a few random marks on the upper front area of the jersey with more showing on the team's crest, there is also an additional light mark near the numbers on the left sleeve and pilling on the lower right sleeve. Some rust residue is also present to the buttons on the fight strap. According to the included LOA, the jersey is "originally sourced from the personal collection of Charles “Skip” Cunningham, the longtime equipment man of the New England Whalers, the Hartford Whalers and the Carolina Hurricanes".
