Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Originally running from 1972-74, the NHL Registered Goal Puck Program allowed individuals to purchase goal pucks from both the regular season and playoffs. This lot contains a pair of pucks from the program for the 1972-73 season. Both featuring rubberized Flyers logos on front, each has a Goal Puck Program label affixed to the reverse listing the particulars, including the handwritten date, team, and the sequence for team goals during said season. The first puck, according to an included document, was used by Bobby Clarke to score the Flyers 140th goal of the 1972-73 season on Jan 11th 1973 vs the Kings (second goal of the game), while the second puck was used to score the Flyers 148th goal of the 1972-73 season on Jan 18th 1973 against Minnesota (third goal of the game).
Each puck from the NHL’s Registered Goal Puck Program was originally distributed by Hockey Diversified, and could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. The Bobby Clarke goal puck in this lot exhibits surface wear with toning to the rubberized Flyers logo, along with discolouration to the Goal Puck Program label, while the second goal puck survives in nicer condition, with just light wear and toning to the team logo and Puck Program label.
