Originally running from 1972-74, the NHL Registered Goal Puck Program allowed individuals to purchase goal pucks from both the regular season and playoffs. This lot contains a pair of pucks from the program for the 1973-74 season, along with a game-used Flyers goal puck from 2007-08. Featuring a rubberized Flyers logo along with a Toronto example, each has a Goal Puck Program label affixed to the reverse listing the particulars, including the handwritten date, team, and the sequence for team goals during said season. The first goal puck was used by Bill Barber to score the Flyers 76th goal of the 1973-74 season on Dec 15th 1973, while the second puck was used by Rick MacLeish to score the Flyers 185th goal of the 1973-74 season on Feb 13th 1974. An LOA for the 2007-08 puck will be included.
Each puck from the NHL’s Registered Goal Puck Program was originally distributed by Hockey Diversified, and could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player.The Bill Barber puck exhibits toning to the rubberized Flyers logo, while the Goal Puck Program label also exhibits some toning/discolouration. The Rick MacLeish puck features a rubberized Toronto logo on front that exhibits some surface crazing, while the Goal Puck Program label exhibits light toning. The 2007-08 puck, according to the accompanying LOA, was used by the Flyers to score a first period goal in a 3-0 victory over the Devils on April 4th 2008. The puck has a small chunk missing out of an edge along the front, while the reverse features some wear to the NHL logo. A hologram from MeiGray numbered PHI002647 has been affixed to the reverse for assured authenticity.
