Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Antique hockey ephemera are rare, especially paper items regarding important teams and individuals. In this lot we have 3 thoroughly interesting items, including a leaflet pertaining to the Chicago Black Hawks, possibly from their inaugural season. We have a “Gentleman’s Ticket” for a Selkirk Hockey Club match from 1914, and lastly, we have a souvenir program for the Theatrical Mechanical Benevolent Association from 1913, which features a schedule for the NHA and OHA on the back cover. The 5” x 8” leaflet explains the newly formed Chicago Black Hawks to its patrons, while the Selkirk hockey ticket is made out to a Mr and Mrs Hay, with a steep price of $1.50. Hall of Famer Bullet Joe Simpson played for Selkirk in 1913-14. Regarding condition, the leaflet which was possibly issued in a program, exhibits a few fold lines along with surface wrinkles/creases, but displays well. The Selkirk Hockey Club ticket is 1 ½” x 3”, and it exhibits just regular handling wear, with a stain on the reverse. The souvenir program measures roughly 6” x 9”, with the back inside cover that features the schedule shows a vertical crease, along with additional surface creases and toning. The full NHA schedule is listed, which includes teams such as the Montreal Wanderers, Quebec Bulldogs, and Ottawa Silver Seven.
