Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Impressive silver plated ice bucket was presented to veteran Bill Gadsby after the Red Wings took first place for the first time in eight years with a 40-win, 87-point season in ’64-65. Scripted engraving on the handled bucket reads “National Hockey League – League Champions 1964-65 – Detroit Hockey Club – William Gadsby.” Playing in his 19th NHL season, the 37-year old Gadsby turned in a performance which earned him a spot on the NHL’s 2nd All-Star Team. Special keepsake from a championship season is in good condition with a just a small dent on the lid to mention, along with fairly extensive tarnishing throughout. Bill Gadsby’s signed letter of authenticity will be included with this formidable piece of Red Wings’ history.
We should also note some wear to the interior of the bucket is present. The underside of the trophy has a series of markings, with “Victorian Plate/E.P. Copper (Electro Plated)/B.M. Mounts/Made in Canada/1968”.
