Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
A Calder Memorial Trophy winner despite being drafted 113th overall by Vancouver in 1989, Pavel Bure would spend seven seasons in B.C. averaging over a-point-a-game before heading down to Florida. This Canucks jersey was worn by The Russian Rocket in 1994-95, and it’s been both video and photo-matched! Maska Ultrafil along with a size fly tag remains affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with tri-colour tackle twill numbers and the team crest in use until 1997, the sweater also sports the Canucks 25th anniversary patch over the right breast along with a Canuck Place patch situated over the right shoulder. The garment also features a custom-extension to the left wrist, a consistent trait with Bure gamers from this era. Notoriously hard to locate, this photo-matched Bure sweater stands out from the minuscule supply, and would be the cornerstone to any Russian, Canucks or Bure collection. A MeiGray COR and letter along with an additional document will accompany.
Game-wear on the important Bure sweater is nice, with faint board burns over each elbow section along with a heavily-salted fight strap. There are also 5 team repairs present, with 4 on the left sleeve and a single example on the right near the elbow, while pilling to the fabric has occurred near the collar and on the inner sleeves. Regarding the previously mentioned video and photo-matches, two different photos of Bure from the 1994-95 season including one which is on the cover of the Pavel Bure night "Forever a Canuck" Nov 2nd 2013 commemorative magazine have been matched. The jersey has also been video-matched to 5 games early in the season and according to video-matches, it was worn from the start of the season in late January up until March 11th 1995.
Match #1. A photo has been matched to a pair of black loose threads on the top of the "0" of "10" on the right sleeve, to a loose thread on the lower area of the "0" on the same sleeve, to a loose thread in the top right corner of the Canuck Place patch on the right shoulder, to the lower left portion of the team crest, to the particular placement of the yellow threading over the black threading and to the right of the team crest to two loose black threads and one yellow thread, and finally, to a number of other loose threads on the team's crest. Match #2. A photo of Bure on the cover on the "Forever a Canuck" Nov 2nd 2013 commemorative magazine has been matched to some of the aforementioned loose threads/anomalies in the crest, and to the lower portion of the "1" of "10" on the left sleeve. Match #3. A video has been matched to some of the aforementioned loose threads/anomalies in the crest and other details for the following games; February 1st 1995 vs Maple Leafs, February 5th 1995 vs Black Hawks, February 20th 1995 vs Kings, March 6th 1995 vs Red Wings and March 11th 1995 vs Ducks. DVDs of the full games as well as screen pics showing video-matches will be included.
