Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
An interesting pair of contracts from early expansion teams are available here, with Charlie Hodge’s 1970-71 Standard Player’s Contract with the Vancouver Canucks, along with a Los Angeles Kings SPC for Gilles Marotte for the 1971-72 season. Both contracts are roughly 8 ½” x 17” when opened, with team stamps present on the front page along with the signature of then league president, Clarence Campbell. Marotte's salary of $96 000.00 over three years is listed, while veteran netminder Hodge has a single-year salary listed of $36 000.00 with the possibility of bonuses. Both contracts have been signed by the respective player in ballpoint, along with the signatures of each club’s president. The Marotte contract also features a copy of a cover letter from the team, listing all of the possible bonuses for the upcoming 1971-72 NHL season. Both contracts remain in excellent condition, with just light handling wear exhibited along with expected fold lines.
