Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
From only his second full NHL season that witnessed the New Jersey Devils crowned Stanley Cup Champions, we have a blocker that was used by Martin Brodeur, and it’s been signed and photo-matched to the Cup Finals, including the Cup-clinching fourth game! A preferred Heaton Helite model, the blocker features screened-on identifiers along with an embroidered logo over the wrist guard. The strapping is intact, with tremendous use showing. Martin has added a nice black marker signature across the face, and it displays well. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany this important photo-matched Stanley Cup Finals blocker.
The face is littered with puck marks, along with heavy wear to the leather on the underside, especially over the thumb protector and finger guard. The palm also shows wear, with a small hole that hasn’t completely breached the material. As mentioned, this blocker has been photo-matched. Getty images #185872065 and #185872375 from the Stanley Cup winning game on June 24th 1995 have been matched to multiple marks on the blocker. Half a dozen numeric images from the 1995 Finals showing matches to specific marks on the blocker will be included.
