Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

Following in the footsteps of a famous father can’t be easy, especially if that father is the one and only Gordie Howe. Originally drafted 51st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1974, Marty Howe would end up playing in both the WHA and NHL, spending time in Houston, Boston, Binghamton and Hartford. This Whalers jersey was worn by Howe in 1984-85, and it’s been signed and photo-matched. Partially detached CCM tagging with handwritten “27” sits on the collar, with a born-on date tag of “84 10” beneath. Styled with the familiar Whalers team crest along with dual-colour tackle twill numbers and letters, there is also an embroidered “CCM*” crest on the bottom hem.
Game-wear on the garment includes a few stick marks on the lower front, along with additional dark marks on the team crest, lower right sleeve and over the right sleeve’s number. There is also a large red streak across the back number "2". Marty has signed just above the streak, with the signature exhibiting some fading. The jersey has been photo-matched to the placement of the name on back including slightly slanted "H" of Howe and placement of all letters, and to the small black mark on the Pucky the Whale patch on the left shoulder near its mouth.
