Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This unassuming lighter was produced by Presto, and while it may seem like just another generic utilitarian item, its historical importance is much greater. Given to Ken Mosdell for his participation with the Montreal Canadiens as Stanley Cup Champions in 1953, the well used lighter has “Presto” on the underside along with Canadian patent dates. One side features a series of horizontal lines with Mosdell’s number “18”, while the other has “Stanley Cup Winners 1953” engraved in attractive script. As mentioned, the lighter was actually used as opposed to being just kept as a memento, with wear to the metal along edges which includes scratches, marks and chips to the surface. Possibly in working order with the top operational, there is currently no wick present.
