Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
One of the most beloved Canadiens of all-time, in this lot we have a small group of interesting material all relating to Maurice Richard. Included are a mini goal stick signed by the Stanley Cup Champion Canadiens with deceased Hall of Famers Richard, Irvin, Lach, Blake, O’Connor, Bouchard and Bill Durnan. We also have a Montreal Forum program from Game 1 of the 1944 Stanley Cup Finals, won by the Habs 5-1. Next we have a Paul Stuart display that originates from the Richard estate, a group II Beehive with career stats handwritten on the reverse, a Quaker Oats photo and a signed and framed photo.
The signed mini-stick is 14” from the top of the shaft to where the blade starts, with 20 autographs in total. Along with the aforementioned deceased signers, others include Getliffe, Watson, Heffernan, Chamberlain, Majeau, Lamoureux, Fillion, McMahon and Glen Harmon. The signatures present well with a few starting to fade. The program exhibits issues including creases, chips and small tears along the top and bottom spine. There is also surface wear along with a name handwritten on the cover in pen. The Stuart display piece pictures a caricature of the Punch line from 1943-44, and it’s been adhered to a wooden plaque with heavy crazing along with surface wear taking place. The Beehive remains in good condition, while the Quaker photo exhibits surface dents along with a few small creases and a center fold line. Lastly, the framed photo is roughly 12” x 15” at full dimensions, with a beautiful signature applied across Richard’s image. A medallion has been inserted below, along with a COA.
