Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Victorian items with a connection to hockey are seldom seen, and it’s no different with this pair of late 19th century skates. Featuring wooden bases, the early skates have 9” curled blades which are especially pleasing along with rounded termination knobs. With the maker lost to time, one skate still has leather hardware intact, while both exhibit considerable amounts of their original dark green finish. Both skates suffer from a century of aging, with random cracks present along with a rich patina spread evenly across the surface of the antique blades.
