Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Vintage hoop and gridiron collectors will be all over this lot, which includes 7 packs of NFL playing cards with 6 still sealed. We also have a complete run of 11 NBA Guide’s from 1960-61 to 1971-72 (missing only 1969-70), along with a Bob Cousy Day program and Play Better Basketball booklet signed by Oscar Robertson. The playing cards are regular sized decks made by Stancraft, with 5 original mailing boxes included from 1968. Included are the Packers, Rams, Browns, Lions, Cowboys and Chicago Bears. A second Bears deck is also included, with this being the example that isn’t still sealed. The basketball guides are 5” x 6 ¾”, and all show handling wear with creases, toning and spine/edge wear. A few also have some random pen marks and notations, along with a couple that exhibit clipped cover corners. Covers include Russell, Jabbar, Robertson and others. The Bob Cousy Day program (8” x 11”) is from his last game on March 17th 1963, and it remains in excellent condition. Lastly, the “Play Better Basketball” book is 8 ½” x 11”, with Robertson signing the cover in ballpoint to the left of his image. The book remains in good condition, with staining/discolouration taking place to the right side of the cover, and continuing into the first page.
