Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Inaugural season 1967-68 Oakland Seals gamer was worn by forward Charlie Burns, an original member of the expansion California Seals who had 35 points while playing 73 games in their first NHL season. The “O” Oakland Seals crest on the front replaced the “C” California Seals crest, which displays evidence of having been removed and is consistent with the team’s name change one month into the season. “Size 46” flag tag remains in the back of the tie-neck collar and all-but-washed-out General Athletic tagging remains sewn inside the front tail of this game-worn jersey that originally came from estate of Seals trainer Doug Lunau. There are numerous team repairs on front, back and sleeves of this expansion beauty, including a baker’s dozen that have material-backed patches inside the jersey, which comes with Seals hockey socks. More solid game wear shows in red paint transfer on the right rear tail and board burns on the tails and sleeves.
