Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This original green-colored arena seat from the historic Maple Leaf Gardens witnessed many games from some of hockey’s greatest rivalries. Chair number “11” has the green metal riser-mount legs, and is nicely displayed on a beige wooden base installed by the Maple Leaf Garden Industries. A silver coloured plaque shows an image of MLG along with serial number #64-181. The chair remains in very good condition, with expected wear to the arm rests, seat and backing. There is also some grey paint along the reverse of the seat back and surface rust to the lower right leg, with the left side being added later when the seat was removed from a group to function as a stand-alone single unit.
We should also note that there are 2 small dark marks on the seat back along with 1 on the seat that break the surface but don’t penetrate through, possibly from cigarette burns. The left arm rest also appears to be a replacement fashioned out of wood. Measures roughly 23 ¾” x 16” x 36”.
