Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
A Detroit Red Wings 2000 Stanley Cup playoffs banner from the Joe Louis Arena is featured along with three hockey-themed silver coins. This massive 84” x 29 1/2" banner printed on one side was displayed at the Joe in the spring of 2000 when the Red Wings swept L.A. in four straight before losing in the second round to bitter rivals Colorado in five. Detroit’s 1997 Stanley Cup championship is commemorated with one of the trio of silver coins. The 1997 Stanley Cup final logo is displayed, along with a limited edition number, on one side of this coin that consists of one troy ounce of .999 pure silver. The other side features the Winged Wheel logo and “Detroit Red Wings” in the middle encircled by “Stanley Cup Cup Champions 1997” along the outside. 2010 Olympic hockey gold is the theme of a gold-plated one troy ounce .9999 pure silver $5 coin from the Canadian mint. Wayne and Walter Gretzky are featured on a $25 Canadian mint pure and fine silver coin featuring a “99” hologram.
