Converse pucks with delectable rubber logos both front and back first appeared in 1964, with Western Hockey League clubs appearing to have uses them alongside the CCM slug. The group here, around for a three-season span, features the famed patent number on the reverse logos and includes some duplication. There is a Victoria Maple Leafs “hat trick” of similar chip-free near mint prizes, while three Vancouver Canucks examples include variations; one has a black circle around the team logo while the other two do not. A couple of small chips and a few skate slices in one of the latter suggest game use. Light wear to the Seattle Totems logo, (with black circle around it), is to be aware of, while another, (without the black circle), is in difficult-to-hope-for-nicer condition. Also formidable to hold and behold are pucks of the Los Angeles Blades and San Francisco Seals, the latter with a small chip and a few nicks on the back edge. First-rate 50-or-so year old pieces of WHL memorabilia will be fabulous acquisitions.
