Their second World Series win and last to date, the Cleveland Indians first beat the Boston Red Sox in a single-game playoff for the American League pennant, allowing them to face the Boston Braves in the 1948 Fall Classic. The Indians were stacked with future Hall of Famers including Lou Boudreau, Larry Doby, Bob Feller, Joe Gordon, Bob Lemon and the legendary Satchel Paige. The Braves would go down in six games, despite both teams scoring an identical 17 runs in the Series. This lot contains a pair of programs for the 1948 World Series.
At 9” x 12”, the condition for the offered programs is as follows. 1) 1948 program issued for Cleveland Stadium, unscored. Sporting a typical vertical crease, the program shows cover dings, small creases along with toning and wear to the spine. The interior also exhibits toning, along with some surface dings and small creases. 2) 1948 program issued for Braves Field, unscored. With moderate spine wear including chipping, the cover also has surface wear along with a pencil notation of “25”. The back cover also shows some corner creasing, with the interior clean.
