Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Awesome early pieces of Detroit NHL history from Jack Adams include a 1928-29 Cougars player’s pass, rare 1930-31 Falcons and 1933-34 Red Wings pocket schedules, and a 1945-46 Red Wings J.D. McCarthy holidays celluloid disc. Farrand D. Gillie’s name is handwritten on his Detroit Cougars “Player’s Identification Pass, Detroit Hockey Club, Season 1928-29” card. Gillie played one game for the Cougars! The 1930-31 Detroit Falcons schedule measures just under 5” x 3”, the same size as the 1933-34 Red Wings schedule. Completing the lot is a 1945-46 Red Wings disc with facsimile autographs and a picture of Adams on the reverse with “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year” greetings.
The Farrand Gillie 1928-29 Cougars Player’s I.D. pass is encased in two sheets of plastic that don’t appear to be glued or laminated on the vintage card itself.
The 1930-31 Falcons and 1933-34 Red Wings folded pocket schedules include schedules for the Detroit Olympics and the Windsor Bulldogs.
Syd Howe, Earl Seibert, Ted Lindsay, Flash Hollett, Jack Stewart, Mud Bruneteau, Bill Quackenbush and Harry Watson are among the Red Wings whose facsimile autographs appear around the Winged Wheel logo on the face of the celluloid disc, which has Copyright 1945 J.D. “Charlie” McCarthy at the bottom. There is a label sticker with a handwritten number on the back of the celluloid disc.
