Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
One of the greatest talents ever produced by the Soviet Union, Sergei Makarov wore this red, mostly mesh CCCP jersey during the early-1980's when he and his "KLM" linemates Larionov and Krutov were in their prime. A Koho company tag in the neck indicates size "XL" and also reads "Made in Finland". The numbers on the back and sleeves, "CCCP" on the front and "Makarov" across the back (no nameplate) are a vinyl-like material and sewn-on. The stripes are knit. This is the exact style of jersey worn by the Soviet National team in the early-1980s in international competition such as the 1984 Canada Cup tournament.
Nice game use here with three unrepaired holes on the knit part of the sleeves and two slices, one of them a 2-inch job near the "24" on the left sleeve. Snags and marks are in the striping on the front and the collar is sweat-stained. The Russian superstar penned a black marker autograph on the "4" on the back.
