Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Big white cotton Czech jersey was worn by forward Josef Augusta who represented his country at the 1974 World Ice Hockey Championships, helping Czechoslovakia to a silver medal. Augusta also suited up for the 1976 Canada Cup, although he wore #26 for that tournament. Everything is sewn-on including the lion crest, the two-tone nylon on white felt numbers and the similar “Augusta” in individual letters. The tie-neck sweater with knit collar shows game-use with some staining on the upper front near the right shoulder, and a good black mark on the right sleeve. Some of the red striping has bled onto the lower front band and sleeves, but the jersey has otherwise been preserved in excellent condition.
Augusta has also added a black marker signature on the interior against the reverse of the back number “6”. Originally obtained years ago directly from Josef Augusta, the jersey is a fine example of a 1970’s high caliber international sweater.
