Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
With a long hockey tradition in the small community of Owen Sound, the city has crowned both Allan and Memorial Cup champs, with the Mercury’s in the 1950's and Grey’s in the 1920's respectively. The Platers were in existence from 1989-2000. This Owen Sound jersey was worn by Wayne Primeau in 1992-93. With shredded Maska and size tagging in collar, there are also embroidered CCM and CHL patches on the bottom hem. Styled with attractive dual-colour team crest and tackle twill numbers, the jersey also sports the Memorial Cup 75th anniversary patch over the right breast. There is also evidence of the removal of a former nameplate. Game-wear on the colourful garment includes a number of black marks present on the front and sleeves near the numbers, along with a few small board burns. Each cuff has also had the seam “slit open”, which appears to have been done intentionally.
