Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

From the late artist Ken Danby, we have this extremely impressive Wayne Gretzky “The Great Farewell” limited-edition print. As Wayne waves farewell to the crowd after his last NHL game (April 18, 1999), Danby sets the scene not inside New York's Madison Square Garden, but outdoors that night, high above the arena. It's not just any generic starry-sky background - Danby here recreates the exact alignment of the stars, planets and moon on that very night, as they would have appeared high above Manhattan. With the original hanging in the home of Wayne himself, the print is complete with white border that includes limited-edition hand-numbering (424/9999), a gold-embossed facsimile Wayne Gretzky signature, and a hand-signed autograph from the late artist Ken Danby.
At 23” x 29”, the highly collectible print has been set in a rich wood frame and double-matted to total dimensions of 31 ¾” x 37 ¾”. With no conditions issues to note to the print or frame, a 58-page companion book detailing the prints design will be included.
