Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Always highly desirable, in this lot we have a game-used Bobby Orr stick from circa 1971-72. Coming off his best point season in 1970-71, Orr and the Bruins would defeat the Rangers in the finals for the Beantowner's second Cup in 3 years in 1972. “B. Orr” is stamped and faded on the shaft of this “Special Order Model” Victoriaville Pro stick. Void of its striping sticker, Orr’s original tape remains on the blade, with his familiar “ribbed” style on the handle/knob. The stick shows nice use, with puck marks on the blade and lower shaft along with a few spots of red paint transfer near the heel and on the upper shaft. Dated by the “Victoriaville Hockey Sticks Ltd” stamps on the shaft, the stick remains in beautiful condition.
We should also point out that two small plaques were once affixed to the stick on each side of the shaft, with small holes remaining. There is also a larger hole near the center of the shaft, most likely from a former mounting. The stick has also been signed by both Phil Esposito and Fred Stanfield in ballpoint on the upper shaft.
