Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
This colorful wool creation was worn in 1925 by early ice hockey sportsman Eric Brolin as a member of the Vancouver Towers, a senior club that captured the Godfrey Cup as champions of the City of Vancouver. The red, yellow and black wool sweater originates from Brolin’s estate and was worn in the early to mid-Twenties before he went on to play for the Detroit Cougars and St. Paul Saints. One of the oldest and most historical vintage British Columbia sweaters ever offered, the uniform features a charming striped high collar and felt lettering at the chest with a large "T" in gold and smaller "AC" for athletic club. Also included are the matching socks, complete with darned wool repairs and elastic stirrups, along with a pair of numeric images that include one showing Eric wearing this jersey (with a 5” x 7” hardcopy as well), along with an image of a vintage newspaper article that gives a complete rundown on the team and its members with a large collage-style image depicting the players on the roster. An LOA will also be included.
The sweater has been extremely well-preserved with just a handful of very small holes to note, with the fabric still very supple. There are also two repairs, with one on the upper right sleeve, the other, over the blue section of the upper reverse striping band.
