Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Turn-of-the-century uniform from the Montreal AAA, Canada's oldest athletic association, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In the late-1800s and early-1900s, the MAAA was one of the most important sporting institutions in Canada, with its team winning the first Stanley Cup in 1893. This ancient coarse wool athletic top likely worn by a runner or summer sport athlete is a tank-top style measuring approximately 15 inches across the chest (size 30). Stunning felt crest on the chest with the orange winged-wheel MAAA logo on a cream shield with red and blue diagonal striping. This is the first Montreal AAA uniform we have seen in any style and it will make a wonderful display.
The blue and wine-colored uniform is bare of any tagging and has been well-preserved with only a handful of smaller holes that do not detract from its appearance in any way. We should also note some discolouration in spots, along with some of the wine colour blending into the blue material.
